Sunshine and Spread Oaks Ranch

Spread Oaks Ranch is truly a nature enthusiast’s and hunter’s paradise, and a respite from the “day to day.” There are many ways to immerse yourself in the nature here and soak in the sunlight!

Look around at opportunities for serenity

We want to briefly address the current situation in our country and our world. We are certainly in an unprecedented state of stress, confusion and anxiety. We are “sheltering in place,” and for many, that has produced complications for not only physical health, but mental health. While we want you to come and enjoy the spectacular surroundings here and all of the exceptional activities and amenities Spread Oaks Ranch has to offer when social distancing is a thing of the past, there are opportunities to experience nature near you NOW.

Even if you don’t live close to a park or nature preserve, or have a backyard, we encourage you to still step outside or take a walk and feel the benefits of the sunlight, and particularly, vitamin D. Are you familiar with the positive effects of vitamin D? It has been proven to be valuable to bone, muscle, nerve and immune health. However, proper vitamin D levels have also been linked to improved mental health and cognitive function.

The best source? Good old sunlight

According to Psychology Today and studies performed by Harvard University, it has been demonstrated that the active form of vitamin D plays a role in the synthesis of dopamine, epinephrine and norepinephrine, which are hormones, and maintaining adequate levels of these hormones is imperative to our mental health. You can obtain vitamin D from your diet, and through supplements, but one of the most effective ways to improve your vitamin D levels is through sunlight. Simply stepping outside for 10 to 30 minutes, a few times per week, can help to sustain a healthy amount of vitamin D in the body!

10 minutes can do a lot of good

Can you take 10 minutes today or tomorrow to step outside and enjoy some sunlight? Your body and mind will thank you for it! Let’s keep ourselves healthy during these upcoming weeks and months, and when the time is right, please come join us at beautiful Spread Oaks Ranch!
